The acoustic & vocal duo of The Bookdrop Bees pepper their sets with a blend of cover songs and originals. During their performances, they can often be found hailing such influences as Janis Joplin, Wilco, and The Beatles. However, the talent of the Bookdrop Bees shines within their original material. Their stirring lyrics are brought to life through Gemma's passionate vocals and Ilan's charismatic strumming.
When asked where he's from, Ilan proudly represents for Rockland County, NY. It was there that he taught himself the guitar at age sixteen. Little did he know at that time that Gemma was a mere 20 minutes away, growing up in Ramsey, NJ. Although Gemma's love for singing began at a young age with church choir music and Broadway show tunes, her more current musical concentrations with Ilan have been in the independent folk/rock circuit.
Married in October of 2004 and currently residing near Albany with their two cats (Ramona and Django), Ilan and Gemma have been making music together since 2001. They are proud to finally release their debut album, "Little Life", after months of manual, mental, and emotional labor.
